Who are the top most influential teens in fashion, music, social media and entertainment?
2016 was the year teens took over. Many under 20 style icons such as Gigi Hadid, Zendaya and Kylie Jenner have paved the way for a new, younger generation of fashion style icons to become the new go-to trend setters. And 2017 will be the year Tweens and Teens dominate. (Note: this list is not sorted by any particular order)
Kim Doyeon, the front girl member of the girl band, I.O.I, Kim brings her great sense of style and influence. She is said to be the next big teen fashion icon. I.O.I. (also known as IOI or Ideal of Idol) is a South Korean girl group band sensation that kind of leaves most of us asking, Who are these girls? when we figure out they’ve seemingly come out of nowhere.
Millie Bobby Brown – This 12-year-old actress needs almost no introduction. The star of Stranger Things is larger than life these days. Millie came to worldwide prominence for her role as Eleven for which she has been nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series. We are seeing her everywhere from magazine covers to charity fundraisers for Unicef and with her BFF, Maddie Ziegler (who, btw, also makes the list)
Maddie Ziegler – Here is another tween fashion icon and huge social influencer who doesn’t need much introduction. 14-year old Maddie is the star of ‘So You Think you can Dance’ and former star of ‘Dance Moms’. In 2016, Maddie launched her own apparel line, Maddie and in 2017, her new memoir, ‘The Maddie Diaries‘ will hit the bookshelves. She has been known for her classic and sophisticated style approach in the tween fashion arena. She likes to keep it simple.
Yara Shahidi – Yara Sayeh Shahidi is the 16 year old American actress and model, best known for playing Zoey on the TV sitcom ‘Black-ish’. She is also quite a fashionista with a fresh, free spirited sense of style that I ADORE.
Peyton List – Peyton Roi List is an 18-year old American actress and model who is known for playing Emma Ross on the Disney Channel comedy series Jessie and Holly Hills in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid (Rodrick Rules and Dog Days). Her career started at age 9 when she modeled for the cover of the American Girl’s 2009 Back to School issue. She began acting in 2011 and has since been a major tween and teen fashion influencer.
Sasha Obama will be one of the ‘it style girls’ to watch in 2017 and perhaps beyond. 15-year-old Sasha and her sister Malia have managed to (mostly) stay out of the spotlight over the years, but what we have seen definitely intrigues. I’m looking forward to seeing more of her style emerge in the upcoming years. See Sasha Obama’s best fashion looks
Sabrina Carpenter 17-year-old musician and actress, Sabrina Carpenter, is most definitely a big deal right now in music and in fashion. She had a recurring role as the young version of Chloe Goodwin in The Goodwin Games and currently stars as Maya Hart in the Disney Channel series Girl Meets World.
Camila Cabello, Oh, the many looks of Camila. On the days she’s not performing, her style is very sweet and girlie. The 19 year old former singer of teen girl band Fifth Harmony is doing well on her own. During her time in the group, Cabello and her bandmates released one EP and two studio albums. As a lead solo artist, Cabello has released two singles which reached the top 20 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
9. & 10.
Chloe x Halle Bailey – Chloe x Halle (18 and 16) and are an American R&B duo, actresses, singers and YouTube sensations made up of sisters Chloe and Halle Bailey. In 2013, after their cover for “Pretty Hurts” went viral with nearly 12 million views, Beyoncé signed them to her management Parkwood Entertainment. They were amongst the three talents she signed, others being Sophie Beem and Ingrid. They also won Disney’s Next Big Thing competition in the fifth season.
Skai Jackson is a 14 yr old American actress, best known for her role as Zuri Ross in the Disney Channel sitcom Jessie, and is currently starring in the Disney channel series Bunk’d. Her sense of style just blows me away.
