20 Fun Ideas for Teen Sleepovers

20 Fun Ideas for Teen Sleepovers

Do you remember your first sleepover as a kid or teenager?  I was about 10 years old. I was super excited over the prospect of staying up all night to watch movies, eat junk food and see if I could stay awake past midnight. From what I can remember, we watched one movie, ate popcorn and I think I must have konked out somewhere around 10 PM. Having a smaller sleepover is cool, but the ones with multiple friends are always a lot more fun, in my opinion. You get all the different personalities combined into one spell-binding event and it can make for a really unforgettable evening. Did that sound sarcastic? Really, I didn’t mean it to be that way.

Some things have changed since I was a teenager, but the one thing that still remains is girls love to have sleepover parties.  They love to stay up late, play games, watch movies and tv shows, eat too much junk food and pizza, tell ghost stories and talk about boys. What activities do you enjoy doing for your slumber parties? With sleepover parties being cool again and school back in session, I decided it was time to create a post about Slumber Parties! What better way to pass the school year than with a few weekend retreats?

10 Fun Things to do at a Teen Sleepover

Of course, you know your friends better than anyone, so your idea of fun is going to be subjective. It really just depends on what you and your friends enjoy doing together. It could be playing games, having a makeover or making cupcakes. Or it could be binge-watching your favorite tv show and eating Doritos. Whatever you decide, come up with ideas that fit your lifestyle, interests, your friends and you!

I’ve created a great list of teen and tween slumber party ideas to start with that include a lot of new and classic activities to have a fun night with all of your girlfriends! Here our favorite list of timeless activities that girls love to play at slumber parties:

  1. Truth or Dare ranks at number one as an all-time favorite party game for girls
  2. Spa night -Hair, nails, face beauty makeover followed by photos (Use a Polaroid or Instax)  To make it even more interesting, try flashlight makeover challenge and do your makeup only using light from the flashlight.
  3. Blacklight Makeup. Turn off the lights and glow! Get blacklight makeup and a blacklight bulb and have fun!!
  4. Tell ghost stories – These are best when the lights are out with only one flashlight. Take turns telling your best ghost story.
  5. Play Gossip. In this game, all girls sit in a circle. The first one whispers a story in the ear of the first girl and each one passes the story onto the next girl, whispering her version. By the time it reaches the last girl, she has to repeat what she heard. It’s a fun game and (a good social study) with a lot of giggles. It shows just how gossip is spread and how lies can be created when info is incorrectly passed from person to person.
  6. Make cool or funny videos
  7. Bring a bag of clothes and accessories and play dress up, or have a clothing swap! Try a lof different outfits and looks and snap photos of your friends.
  8. Play Xbox, PS4 or Mario Kart if you and your friends love video games!
  9. Karaoke! There are a lot of karaoke consoles on the market. Try the Bluetooth microphones, too.
  10. Send crazy, funny DMs to your favorite celebs

10 Fun Sleepover Games For Teens

1.Light as a feather, stiff as a board. This was a favorite like, way back. Light as a feather, stiff as a board, sometimes known as pig in a blanket, stiff as a board, is a game played by at slumber parties as a levitation trick. In performing magic this effect is known as abnormal lift. 🤔

2. Would You Rather?

3. Play M.A.S.H! Will you have a Mansion, Apartment, Shack or House?

4. Wacky Mad Libs – I’ll never get tired of this one

5. Monopoly (Ok, this is still one of my favorite board games but maybe you would prefer one from my list of Best Teen Games)

6. Magic 8 Ball – Play a little fun Q&A with the magic 8 Ball

7. Twister

8. Charades or Pictionary

9. Pass the Orange: Get an orange and sit everyone in a circle, or stand in a line. The game is simple; you need to put an orange under the chin of the first person, who must then pass it to the next person and place it under their chin, without using hands. See how far you can get. Whoever drops the orange is out of the game. Keep going until the last person who hasn’t dropped the orange is still in!

10. Cards Against Humanity is still a #1 game for teens

7 Things You Shouldn’t Do at a Teenage Sleepover:

  1. Lie to your parents and say your sleeping over at your BFs house when really, you’re going to a party
  2. Play with the Ouija board. (probably not a good idea)
  3. Drink alcohol
  4. Sneak out
  5. Pull practical jokes and pranks on your friends that could leave them feeling humiliated or in danger
  6. Write on the face of the first person who falls asleep with a Sharpie.
  7. Play games (or movies) that will scare your guests. Sorry, not everyone will be on board to watch The Exorcist or play Bloody Mary.
